Thieves steal dad's ashes

Thieves took more than a few household items from a storage locker in Sicamous.

Sicamous RCMP is asking those responsible for the theft of a distinctive wooden jewelry box, taken from a storage locker on Hillier Road in Sicamous, to return the item to police with no questions asked.

“The hand-made wooden jewelry box contained the cremated ashes of the owner’s father,” Sgt. Murray McNeil.

“It is extremely important to this woman, that her father's ashes and the jewelry box be returned. The wooden box can be returned to the front counter of the Sicamous RCMP Detachment with no questions asked to the person who returns it and we will make arrangements to return it to its rightful owner.”

Three other storage units were broken into at the same facility with many valuable larger items such as gasoline generators, leather furniture and fishing gear not touched.
