Parking lot gold jewelry fake

This might come as a shock to some, but "gold jewelry" purchased from a random parking lot may not actually contain real gold.

At least two people reported to Salmon Arm RCMP that they were taken by a "gold jewelry" salesperson at an area parking lot.

"Both individuals have now found out that they purchased 'fake gold' jewelry and are out hundreds of dollars," said Sgt. Scott West of the Salmon Arm detachment.

"Buying jewelry in a parking lot from people who are not known to you is not a good idea. If it seems 'to be too good to be true' or just a great deal in a parking lot it is probably a scam of one kind or another."

If anyone is approached in a parking lot to buy jewelry, politely decline the offer and call 911 so that we can locate these individuals and investigate, West said.
