Slide closes Shuswap road

Rainy weather has delayed work at a landslide in Seymour Arm that initially closed the road on Sunday.

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District has been informed by the Ministry of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development that, due to continued rainy weather, engineers have advised repairs to the road can not begin until the risk of more debris coming down the slide path has been reduced, the CSRD said in a release.

Shuswap road still closed

This is for the safety of workers at the site, the CSRD said.

At this point, there is no estimate on how long the road may be closed, however, work will take place as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.
