Another Co-op project

After five years and more than 100 projects, the Co-op Community Spaces is going strong.

The program is providing funding for the Salmon Arm West Outdoor Learning Project.

This year, Co-op is providing $30,000 to help build the Shannon Sharp Learning Circle at Salmon Arm West Elementary School. The circular structure will act as an outdoor classroom and shelter to share knowledge and come together.

The Shannon Sharp Learning Circle is a tribute to a beloved teacher. Its circular design reflects the strong connection to the Indigenous community, celebrating the four directions.

Co-op Community Spaces has been developed to help protect, beautify and improve spaces across Western Canada.

This year, the program is providing $2 million to 26 community projects from Vancouver Island to Manitoba. Since 2015, Co-op has donated $8.5 million to 114 projects.

“Co-op Community Spaces aims to bring people together, creating places for everyone and building a lasting legacy that benefits our community into the future,” said Jason Keis, marketing and sales manager of Armstrong Regional Cooperative.

“We’re happy to be a contributing partner on projects like this. They reflect the spirit and dedication of the people within our community.”

More information on the project can be found online.
