Bike race and street fest

It's that time of year again for the Enduro Bike Race and Salty Street Fest happening this weekend in Salmon Arm.

The six-hour Enduro Bike Race from May 11 to 13 is one of the longest mountain bike races in the province.

Contestants compete individually or in a team of two riding on a variety of scenic trails.

This event features over 600 bikers from Alberta and B.C. with almost 90 per cent of them coming from out of town.

“This will be an exciting event, both for the riders and for the community," said Tom Peasgood, Skookum Cycle and Ski and founder of the event. "By combining the Enduro Race with inviting the community to participate and join us at the Salty Street Fest, it truly is an ideal event for everyone to get involved."

"It is definitely something for the community of Salmon Arm to celebrate. We are priming the trails now to be sure they are in optimal shape and working with the Shuswap Trail Alliance.”

The public is also invited out to enjoy the Salty Street Fest on Saturday.

Salty Street Festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Hudson Street.

The festival features a variety of activities for everyone, including the Candy-Vault and the pie eating contest.

“This is an excellent event to showcase Salmon Arm as a prime outdoor adventure event destination," said Lana Fitt, Salmon Arm economic development manager. "When we attract people to come for one reason, they learn about our community and our beautiful surroundings, and they are more inclined to come back again, bringing increased economic impact to our region."
