Trustee reduction on hold

It looks like the number of trustees in the North Okanagan-Shuswap School District is not changing anytime soon.

Official trustee for the district, Mike McKay said he has not yet heard back on his recommendation to the Minister of Education that the number of trustees drops from nine to five, with each trustee having a larger area of responsibility.

McKay said he hopes to hear back by the end of the month, or at least in a timely manner, so those considering running for trustee will have ample notice of the change.

McKay also added that the district is planning on having some sessions in April or May on the roles and responsibilities of being a trustee for those considering running.
