Hits ditch to avoid cars

Road conditions near Salman Arm caused several mishaps Thursday.

The driver of a big rig drove into the ditch to avoid an accident near Salmon Arm Thursday.

RCMP Staff Sgt. Scott West said police were at a “motor vehicle incident on Highway 1
East of Pierre's Point Road when a fully loaded semi went off road to avoid hitting vehicles stopped on the highway.”

West said no one was injured and the tractor trailer unit will be removed when the poor weather subsides and it is safe to tow it out.

“Harsh weather and poor road conditions are expected over the next several days. The Salmon Arm RCMP are encouraging those driving to be extra vigilant,” he said.
