Busy, but under control

RCMP in Salmon Arm were kept busy over the long weekend, but there were no major incidents to report.

“Our officers were busy on the highways and rural roads within the area conducting two road checks - one in Blind Bay and one in the Canoe area,” said Staff Sgt. Scott West. “As a result of these road checks and other traffic stops, no less than four drivers were stopped for alleged impaired driving, removed from the road and sanctioned under the Criminal Code or the Provincial Motor Vehicle Act.”

West said two of those drivers were under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol and one of the drivers had been involved in a single-vehicle collision after apparently hitting a concrete divider. The collision resulted in more than $1,000 in damage to the vehicle.

“As we get into the heat of the summer months, please remember to use a sober driver, a cab or walk if you have been drinking or using drugs. We will all be safer for it,” said West.
