Serwa's Olympic moment

Kelowna's Kelsey Serwa is set for what will likely be her final run down an Olympic skicross course.

Serwa, and the rest of the 26-woman field, have been training on the course at Phoenix Park the past few days in advance of event.

Seeding runs were moved to Wednesday, which she finished with the second quickest time.

Start times for the event have also been altered.

The event is expected to kick off at 5 p.m. Pacific time Thursday evening, with the gold medal run now slated for 6:20 local time, three hours earlier than scheduled.

Serwa has been fairly quiet on social media.

Sunday, she sent out on Instagram, "Game face ready for our first day on the big-kid track."

Then Monday, "Nothing but fun times had on Day 2 of training. The men race heats tomorrow and I’m so pumped to cheer on our boys as they race for Olympic medals!!!"

Serwa is skiing in her third Olympics. She finished fifth in 2010 in Vancouver, before bring home a silver medal in a one-two Canadian finish in Sochi four years ago.

Back at home, friends and fans are ramping up their support. Good luck messages are being forwarded from all over the valley, including a message from her alma mater, South Kelowna Elementary, a video from Big White and a brief, but enthusiastic video from a group of supporters in Grand Forks.

Viewing parties are also being scheduled around the city and at Big White.

In Kelowna, Barefoot Venus, which markets a Mustard Bath endorsed by Serwa, will host a viewing party at Boston Pizza in Dilworth Centre.

The event runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and includes door prizes.
