Canadian boarders go big

After strong performances in yesterday's qualifying rounds of men's snowboard slopestyle at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games, Canada is poised for a strong showing in the finals Saturday evening.

Quebec's Sebestien Toutant got things started Friday afternoon Pacific time, finishing third in the qualifying Heat 1 and moving on to the finals.

Things looked even better for Canada a few hours later in Heat 2, when Quebec's Max Parrot took the top spot in the qualifying round, followed by Saskatchewan's Mark McMorris in second and Ontario's Tyler Nicholson in fifth.

The strong showing by Canadian snowboarders in the qualifying heats means four of the 12 riders going into the medal round are from Canada.

The finals begin at 5 p.m. Pacific time.
