Okanagan-Westside incumbent MLA Rick Thorpe wants to be re-elected, and though he’s had health troubles in the past, he doesn’t think they’ll present a problem.
Thorpe says the doctors are confident that as long as he follows orders, his health should remain under control. He'll need that control as he heads down a competitive compaign trail.
The last election was a sweeping victory for the Liberals, but many think 2005 will be a little different. Thorpe is running against NDP nominated Joyce Procure, a health-care worker on the Westside.
He has specific goals for his platform, including a desire for the new bridge to be finished and road improvements made throughout the riding.
Thorpe was acclaimed Monday night.
