As many as 15 hundred politicians will be in Kelowna this week for the annual Union of B.C. Municipalities convention.
Hotels are booked solid for the event which starts Monday.
Kelowna hasn't hosted the annual convention since the late 50's and Westside Regional Director Aaron Dinwoodie says until now, Kelowna just couldn't accommodate the numbers.
Politicians will be debating a number of social impact resolutions and may pass a safe street act to deal with transients.
Kelowna city officials hope to meet with Transportation Minister Kevin Falcon in a bid to get a provincial contribution for a $15 million north end connector.
The previous NDP government had offered 50% funding but the Liberals withdrew the offer since coming to power.
Premier Gordon Campbell and federal Industry Minister David Emerson will attend the UBCM convention this week.
