More than 20,000 workers at Revenue Canada begin job action this week. Picket lines are expected to go up at work sites across the country. This comes after the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) turned down the the government's latest offer.
Revenue Canada processes tax returns, the goods and services tax, and answers public inquires. Essential service levels are in place, but the public will notice a decline in service such as not being able to make payments at a government office or get an answer to an inquiry.
The main issue is wages. Workers want 8% over three years. The government tabled an offer around 6% that was less than that recommended by a mediator.
