Canadian employers expect to give raises averaging 3.2 per cent next year according to a new survey by a national managing consulting firm.
Hay Group said the expected pay hike is based on a survey of more than 500 public and private sector employers.
The forecasts varied by position, ranging from an anticipated base pay increase of 2.8 per cent for trades jobs, to 3.2 per cent for executive positions.
The anticipated pay hikes also varied across the country, ranging from a high of 3.6 per cent in Alberta to a low of 2.3 per cent in some parts of Atlantic Canada.
The consulting company said annual bonuses are a key part of pay packages for an increasing number of employees.
