He got Shannon Murrin off the hook in the Mindy Tran murder case and now Kelly Ellard is hoping he can do the same for her.
Ellard, the Victoria woman charged with killing Reena Virk in 1997, has hired the man who successfully defended Murrin four years ago.
Murrin was accused of killing eight-year-old Mindy Tran. She disappeared from her Kelowna home in August 1994. Her body was later found in Mission Creek Regional Park.
Murrin's lawyer was Peter Wilson. Ellard, who is set to stand trial for a third time in the Virk killing, has hired him. She was convicted in the first trial but the verdict was overturned. The second trial ended in a hung jury and the crown wants to prosecute her a third time.
