Community outpouring for Cody

Funeral services have been scheduled for the 8-year-old boy who died after being pulled from his family's burning motorhome in Oliver.

The services for Cody O'Connor are slated for 1 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Latter-day Saints in Penticton, according to Rob Graham, a firefighter with the Oliver Fire Department.

An updated account number has also been provided for people who wish to donate to the boy's family, who lost all their possessions in the  fire on Aug. 28.

It is: Transit 04080, account # 5000567, Cody O'Connor Family Trust at Royal Bank of Canada.

Donations need to be guaranteed funds, cash or a draft made out to Cody O'Connor.

Cody suffered burns to 40 per cent of his upper body, after a fire broke out in the motorhome where he was staying with his family at the Centennial RV Park in Oliver.

He was pulled from the blaze through a back window by Oliver Fire Chief Dan Skaros, who was on his way to a meeting when he smelled the fire.

The boy, who was slated to start third grade at Oliver Elementary School in early September, was transported to BC Children's Hospital for care. He was at a hospice, when he taken off life support last Friday.

According to the Oliver Daily News, a bottle drive is also being organized for Sept. 28 at the recycle depot in Oliver.

Donations can also be made here.
