Sky high utility bills will be the subject of a discussion to be held in Penticton on Tuesday, April 23.
The meeting held by Locals Supporting Locals -Okanagan Chapter will focus on rising utility rates as well as a presentation on the health/safety and privacy issues of wireless meters.
"With electric bills skyrocketing from our new two tier system, many citizens in our Okanagan area are noticing their hydro bills dramatically increasing to the point that many can no longer afford the unpredictable expense," said organizer Kevin Proteau. "This meeting will allow for the people of Penticton and the surrounding area to come together and discuss how we can regain control of our utility companies."
Guest speakers include Proteau, Farren Lander, MA environmental consultant, engineering technologist Curtis Bennett and Doug Maxwell, BC First candidate for Penticton.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7 p.m. at Smith and Company, 215 Winnipeg Street, Penticton.
A group of concerned citizens from throughout the Okanagan Similkameen also signed a petition against FortisBC's two-tiered rate system at the Oliver Legion on Sunday.
