SOEC hosts holiday shopping

If you're looking to do some holiday shopping, pop on by the South Okanagan Events Centre Sunday.

Executive Director for the Downtown Penticton Association Barb Haynes says they've been getting questions about a holiday market.

"Many people have been asking for the markets and for some of the merchants from the downtown to do something leading into Christmas," says Haynes. "So Curtis and I got together and decided that we would host the markets again on the concourse level of the South Okanagan Events Centre and accompany that with a community skate."

Haynes says for the next two Sundays, vendors and buskers will be set up from noon to 4 p.m.

"The South Okanagan Events Centre will be open to the public. You can spend the afternoon shopping, the concessions will be open from the South Okanagan Events Centre, so come down and enjoy lunch time, and spend time doing your Christmas shopping," she says.

"There's all kinds of vendors coming, bakers, fudge, candle makers, jewelery, bead work, wonderful Christmas crafts, Christmas ornaments, all kinds of wonderful opportunities."

There will be two more markets in December.

If people are interested in becoming a vendor or busker, they can call the Downtown Penticton Association at 250-493-8540.
