Emergency crews responded to a truck on fire along Highway 97 in Summerland on Wednesday evening.

Traffic along Highway 97 in Summerland was slowed Wednesday evening as emergency crews responded to a semi truck on fire.

The incident happened at about 7:30 p.m. along Highway 97, near the Prairie Valley Road and Solly Road intersection.

Residents in the area reported hearing a big bang before noticing the truck on fire in one of the northbound lanes.

Firefighters and police were on scene, and highway traffic was being directed around the incident.
