Local Indigenous storyteller bringing one-person show to Penticton theatre

Tempest Theatre announced they are partnering with local indigenous performer and storyteller, Madeline Terbasket, to present their one-person show next week.

Originally debuted at Frank Venables Theatre in mid-January, “The Two-Spirit Tease” is now coming to the Penticton theatre for two nights on Friday, Feb. 3, and Saturday, Feb. 4.

Tempest Theatre shared that the Oliver premiere was extremely well-received by the audience, with one attendee saying “This show is incredible. I laughed to the point that I thought I wasn't going to be able to contain myself and I cried more than once” while another shared "This show was so soul-enriching."

Throughout ‘The Two-spirit Tease’, Terbasket (they/them) uses songs, poetry and traditional Syilx stories to take the audience on a playful walk through their life.

Terbasket will share about their mental health journey, body image, queer identity, and joy.

"They will meet you in your laughter and your tears."

Tempest’s Artistic Director, Kate Twa said she is thrilled to add these performances to the year’s programming.

“We are very excited to have Madeline perform their one-person show at Tempest. They are a creative force full of brave storytelling and heartwarming compassion."
