Highway 97 north of Summerland will be closed for a full hour Monday starting at 1 p.m. for blasting.
Commuters along the corridor have been experiencing intermittent delays of 15 to 20 minutes or longer all month for ongoing work on the slope, expected to wrap up by the end of January.
This closure will run from 1 to 2 p.m.
The area was the site of a major rock slide in February 2019, and when more debris came tumbling down the slope in November 2022, the Ministry of Transportation stepped in for further review, deciding more mitigation work was needed.
The closure will be between Bridgeman Road and N Beach Rd. for 4.5 kilometres.
