Penticton's most colourful run is back this year in support of local kids

The Wildstone Construction Colour4Kids Run in support of pediatric rehabilitation in the South Okanagan will be back in Penticton this year.

On Sunday, June 11, the fun-filled run will take place at Loco Landing Adventure Park, raising funds for the OSNS Child &Youth Development Centre.

The run, which involves getting colourful through being misted by paint at a "colour station" before the run, doused in more colours by volunteers along the route, has been on hiatus for three years due to the pandemic.

It was first started by Penticton teenager Sinclaire Lovette in memory of her sister, Bronwyn, who passed away at the age of 18 due to a mitochondrial disease.

The all-ages event is family-centred and offers either 2.5 or 5-kilometre routes to run or walk, filled with fun along the way. In 2019, the last time the run was held, the run had 800 participants and raised a record breaking $21,580 for OSNS, ensuring they can continue to help children in need of developmental therapies.

“We’re so grateful to Wildstone Construction for hosting this event in support of our Centre”, shares Megan Windeler, community engagement lead for OSNS.

“The Colours4Kids run will help build awareness of the important work done at our child development centre. There are kids throughout our community who struggle daily with developmental challenges – understanding this and having compassion for them is so important.”

Wildstone's people and culture manager said the event is fun for all ages and abilities, and they are excited to bring it back.

"The work OSNS does is so important to a lot of kids in the Okanagan, we are honoured to be able to give back to our community by organizing such a great event."
