One man has died after succumbing to his injuries from a fire that engulfed a large garage in Oliver early Thursday morning.
The Oliver Fire Department was dispatched to Island Way Road at approximately 6:45 a.m. to find a very large detached garage workshop with several vehicles inside fully engulfed in flames on arrival.
The man was working on a car inside the garage at the time. Fire Chief Bob Graham said that the one resident has been taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The BC Coroners Services confirmed with Castanet on Friday that they were notified and are investigating one death resulting from the incident that morning.
This is the second fire to claim life in the South Okanagan this week, as two others were lost to a fire at an apartment building Saturday night on Lakeshore Drive in Penticton.
