Penticton's Glengarry Skating Club has great showing at recent competition

Local skaters top podium

Penticton's Glengarry Skating Club racked up some impressive wins at the 2022 Okanagan Inter-club Competition recently in West Kelowna.

Twenty-five skaters from Glengarry participated in 38 events, earning 36 personal bests and plenty of podium finishes over the Nov. 25-27 event.

They earned 10 gold medals, 11 silver and 3 bronze.

A highlight for the club were there Star 1 skaters, three of whom were at their first ever Skate Canada-sanctioned competition. The six skaters at that level — Adele Kaminski, Ava Denich, Avaline Gibson, Ella-Rae Howells, Rina Sugata and Curtis Carrigan — took home six golds and one silver assessment between them.

Another big moment was 16-year-old Deepika Gill finishing first in the Star 5 Elements event, with four gold and one silver assessment on her scorecard, which is a perfect score at this the level and event.
