Penticton kid skates to the podium for Glengarry Skating Club

Local kid skates to silver

A Penticton kid shone bright at the BC/Yukon Super Series Sectional Championship this month, earning his local skating club its first podium finish at the event in over ten years.

Micah Rodrigues of Penticton's Glengarry Skating Club earned a silver medal in the Pre-Juvenile Men category and earned a personal best score of 23.52 points.

Head coach Trevor Buttenham characterized the event as "one of the most difficult on the yearly calendar."

This is the first time that Glengarry SC has had a skater win a medal at this particular championship in more than a decade.

Other Glengarry members who competed included Payten Ferguson (Pre-Novice Woman, 47.79 points, 53rd place), Noa Kan (Juvenile Women, 15.66 points, 40th place) and Yuzuki Onishi (Pre-Juvenile Women, 19.58 points, 13th place).
