Dress as Santa, go for a run: Popular Santa Rec Run back in Penticton this weekend

Join the Santa Run fun

The jolliest fun run in the South Okanagan is back this weekend.

The annual Santa Rec Run, presented by Hoodoo Adventures, will take place Saturday, Nov. 26, encouraging friends and family to get outside and have fun while supporting youth outdoor programming in the community.

Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities will gather at the Loco Landing parking lot in Penticton on Saturday at 5 p.m. for the easy five-kilometre loop along the waterfront and back, or a one-kilometre version for kids.

Every participant gets a Santa hat and entries into a prize draw, and more elaborate costumes are encouraged to add to the festive atmosphere.

Plus, draw prizes, race prizes and workplace retreats will be up for grabs.

Rates are $15 per child aged 4-16, $20 per adult or $50 for a family rate of three to five people within the same family, or $200 for a larger group such as a business.

All proceeds from registration fees go to the not-for-profit Youth Outdoor Recreation Society, providing affordable outdoor programs for Okanagan youth.
