Penticton project selling housing-themed ornaments to raise money for less fortunate this holiday season

Ornaments for a cause

Buy an ornament, support the Salvation Army.

Penticton's annual V2A project is back this year, intended to help those in need in the city through selling home-themed clay ornaments.

The name "V2A" is a nod to the local postal code and ongoing housing issues in the region. The handmade clay ornaments shaped like houses or featuring houses as decoration are made from recycled and donated materials.

Each one is completely unique, just like the people they represent.

Dave, Viv and Heather Lieskovsky are the people behind the project, having raised more than $20,000 in donations over the past six years with all proceeds from the sale of home-themed items donated to Penticton’s Salvation Army.

This year, starting Nov. 19 with the Penticton Art Walk, a limited supply of ornaments will be available while supplies last. House-shaped ornaments will be sold at Leir House for a minimum $10 donation and round ornaments for a minimum $5 donation will be available at The Lloyd Gallery on Front Street.

"The ornaments are great reminders that Penticton cares for those less fortunate in our community," reads a statement from V2A.
