Penticton Art Gallery's Square Mini Mural project back for auction at Cannery Brewing

Mini murals up for auction

The Square Mini Mural live auction is back again at Cannery Brewing, a collaboration with the Penticton Art Gallery supporting local artists and the gallery.

Ten four-by-four paintings have been on display at Cannery since the creation of the murals during the Ignite the Arts Festival in March 2022.

They were created by colourful Okanagan artists: Amy Schroeter, Angela Hansen, Ariane` Kamps, Elizabeth Houghton, Greta Kamp, Jessie Dunlop, Johann Wessels, Kristine Lee, Leta Heiberg, and Moozhan Ahmadzadegan.

Now, they will be up for auction, already on an easel frame ready to hang indoors or outside.

Downtown business owner Fergy of Honey Toast cafe proudly has one from last year's auction on display.

“I noticed this one by Jolene Mackie and I liked it so much, I kept coming back to Cannery Brewing just to look at it. After I purchased the painting at the auction I had the piece in my bedroom, but when I opened Honey Toast, I moved it into the public. Now, I am in contact with Jolene to design a full sleeve tattoo for me!” Fergy said.

Like last year, proceeds raised from the event will be split between the artist and the Penticton Art Gallery, which will put the funds towards next year's Square Mural Project.

Bidding is now open online starting at $500 per piece. Online bids can be placed up until Tuesday, Oct. 25 and will be carried over to the live event the following night.

Tickets to attend the auction are now available for $25, which includes one drink and entry to the live auction at Cannery Brewing.

Pick up tickets in person at Cannery or buy online here.
