Outdoor movie screening coming to Penticton's Okanagan Lake Park this month

Movie under the stars

Get ready to experience a movie under the stars in Penticton this summer, in support of a great cause.

Interior Savings and BGC Okanagan are offering the Moonlight Movie Tour in Okanagan Lake Park on Aug. 15, featuring a screening of "Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation" on a giant inflatable screen

Everyone is encouraged to arrive early to get a good viewing spot and take part in the family-friendly pre-show activities that will be available. There is no charge to attend, but a donation of $3 per person or $10 for a family is suggested, with proceeds going to BGC Okanagan's work with kids in the region.

“We’re delighted to partner with Interior Savings and to be a part of the Moonlight Movie Tour. Proceeds from this event will help BGC Okanagan provide children, youth and families the tools to realize positive outcomes in self-expression, academics, healthy living, physical activity, mental health, leadership and more. We do this through our daycare, after school care, recreation, and support programs that help them become their best selves,” says Richelle Leckey, community engagement coordinator for BGC Okanagan.

Come hungry, because a concession stand will be open at the park. The screening is one of nine Moonlight Movie nights taking place throughout the Interior of BC this summer, each benefiting a local non-profit organization.

“Since 2010 the tour has raised over $183,000 to support youth and mental wellness programs," says Brian Harris, CEO of Interior Savings.

“We’re pleased to bring the Moonlight Movie tour back to our communities and help raise awareness and funds for local non-profit organizations. Our hope is this event will provide an opportunity for communities to reconnect and for families to create some wonderful memories together."

Gates open at 7 p.m. Movie-goers are encouraged to bring cash should they want to donate admission or purchase treats at the concession.
