Penticton woman files lawsuit against Walmart over alleged slip-and-fall

Suing Walmart for slip & fall

An alleged fall at the local Walmart has led a Penticton woman to file a lawsuit against the company, claiming she slipped and sustained injuries at their store.

Cheryl Fraser alleged in the suit filed this week that on June 22, 2020, she came into the Walmart located at 275 Green Avenue West at around 2:30 p.m., and was shopping in the dairy department. While walking through the department, she slipped on yogurt and fell.

The suit alleges Walmart was negligent and failed to keep the premises of the store safe.

The civil claim alleges Fraser sustained an injury to the right knee, right arm, back, neck, shoulders and chest, along with other injuries that have caused her to endure pain, suffering and loss of enjoyment of life with continued medical care.

She also claims to have suffered impairment and interference with her occupation, resulting in a loss of income.

Fraser is seeking unspecified general and special damages, cost of healthcare services (past and future) and other reliefs.

None of the allegations contained in the lawsuit have yet been proven in court.
