Travel Penticton joins 'Rainbow Registry' of 2SLGBTQ+ friendly organizations

'Rainbow Registry' expands

Travel Penticton is urging local businesses to join them in earning a "Rainbow Registered" accreditation.

Pride month is over, but that does not mean support for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community needs to end in Penticton. The Rainbow Registered LGBT+ Friendly Accreditation Program is available to help.

The program standards focus on four key areas, including policies and practices, training, commitment to inclusive leadership, and a culture of inclusivity. Travel Penticton and the Penticton Visitor Centre recently received the Rainbow Registered accreditation.

"When you see a Rainbow Registered symbol, you know the business or organization meets a stringent set of standards to ensure LGBT+ customers feel safe, welcomed, and accepted," Travel Penticton explained in a press release Tuesday.

"Travel Penticton is excited to be part of a national network of LGBT+ inclusive organizations. They are one of 10 accredited businesses in BC, and one of only three in the Okanagan Valley, but would like to see that number continue to grow."

Travel Penticton will now be providing funding for up to 10 Penticton tourism and hospitality businesses to obtain their Rainbow Registration, in the hope of growing inclusivity.

"Help build out our network of Rainbow Registered businesses in Penticton and show your commitment to a more welcoming, accepting and safe LGBT+ customer and staff experience."
