Airtankers have been taking to the skies from the Penticton airport these past couple of months in preparation for wildfire season.
BC Wildfire Service dispatched the Penticton tanker group in May, which will remain at the airport and in the area until early September or as long as required.
According to BCWS, given the current relatively cool weather and low fire activity, these actions will be mostly practiced to retain operational readiness.
Local photographer Mike Biden got up close to provide an inside look at the planes and their pilots.
The planes will be ready to service the entire region should wildfires break out.
