Curious what your community looked like decades in the past?
A project from a Vancouver-based team melds historical and current photographs from communities around the province and beyond, allowing viewers a peek back in time.
The "On This Spot" website and app have been around for a few years, but new communities continue to be added and some in the Okanagan and Similkameen may not be aware it exists.
Vernon, Penticton, Kaleden, Okanagan Falls, Princeton, Summerland, Peachland Osoyoos and Oliver are all featured on the website.
A short historical write-up accompanies a timeline of photographs. Users can click and slide to see streets and buildings as they were, and how they are.
