Epic 580-kilometre adventure race returns to Okanagan

Epic 580-km adventure race

An epic week-long race across the Okanagan begins June 5, with 18 teams competing on a surprise 580-kilometre course through the wilderness.

The Expedition Canada race will kick off in Kelowna and wind up in the Penticton area, requiring a mix of trekking, trail running, mountain biking, kayaking and canoeing, orienteering, and rappelling.

Teams will be given the course at the same time, at the same course briefing in a locked-down room just hours before they start.

People from Brazil, Australia, the United Kingdom, the United States, Estonia and all over Canada will be in attendance.

Penticton's Hoodoo Adventures is the event organizer, sponsored by Murray Buick GMC.

The first-place winning team will earn a spot in the Adventure Racing World Championships in Paraguay.

Hoodoo Adventures will be updating their social media throughout the race for anyone who wants to follow along. There will also be live updates thanks to tracking devices carried by each team.

Teams have up to seven days to complete the race, but the first place finisher is likely to be done in five.
