Governor General to visit Osoyoos

Some distinguished guests will be visiting the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre this week.

Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, and Monsieur Jean-Daniel Lafond, will visit Nk’Mip Resort on January 22.

They will be greeted by Osoyoos Indian Band chief Clarence Louie and Vincor Canada president and CEO Jay Wright.

Their Excellencies visit to Osoyoos will be the last stop of their first visit to the Okanagan Valley to meet with representatives of the wine industry.

Their Excellencies are keen to learn about all aspects of the wine industry and especially the wine culture in the Okanagan region.

While at Nk’Mip Resort, Their Excellencies will meet and pay their respects to Chief Louie, and learn more about the projects of the Osoyoos Indian Band, which in addition to Nk’Mip Cellars, include the Desert Cultural Centre and Spirit Ridge Resort. As part of the visit, they will tour the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre with Chief Louie and Charlotte Saunders.
