Border jumper caught in truck

It was an interesting case for Canadian Border Services officers at the Port of Osoyoos Monday.

Communications manager for the CBSA, Paula Shore, says officers became suspicious of a female driving a vehicle through the border.

“They referred the vehicle for a secondary examination and while looking through the car, officers discovered a backpack of men’s clothing. Further examination revealed a man hiding in the trunk,” says Shore.

She says the driver and her hidden passenger were arrested by the CBSA and turned over to the RCMP.

“Edna Ennis, a Canadian resident, has been charged with providing false information to a CBSA officer and aiding a person to contravene the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.”

Ennis is a Kelowna resident.

Shore says Donald Carl Mclean, a U.S. citizen, has been charged with failing to report to a CBSA officer.
