Call for more firefighters

Think you have what it takes to be a firefighter?

The Okanagan Falls Volunteer Fire Department is looking for new recruits interested in joining a brother and sisterhood dedicated to helping community members when they are in need.

"Being a firefighter is much more than just fighting fires. We attend lots of first medical response calls, motor vehicle accidents and more," the department says.

"Our membership spans a wide range of age and physical abilities. You do need to be fit and healthy and have a clean criminal record, but you don’t need to be built like Arnold Schwarzenneger to apply."

Requirements include:

  • Be a strong team player
  • Be fit and healthy
  • Be double vaccinated by Jan. 15
  • Have a clean criminal record
  • Live inside the OK Falls Fire Protection Zone (includes Eastside Road, Heritage Hills, Oliver Ranch Road)
  • Be available For Wednesday night practices

"If you are interested we would love to hear from you. Send us a DM and we can arrange to meet you at the hall to pick up an application," the department says on Facebook.

Send them a message if you are interested here.
