Debris cleared after crash closed Highway 97 in both directions near Kaleden

A crash near Kaleden has both lanes of Highway 97 closed Wednesday morning.

UPDATE 6:45 p.m.

Highway 97 has now fully reopened near Kaleden.

the debris has been cleared and the route is open between Lakehill Rd and Okanagan Game Farm Rd.

UPDATE: 11:45 a.m.

DriveBC reports Highway 97 by Kaleden has now reopened partially to single lane alternating traffic.

Another update is expected at 1 p.m.

UPDATE: 10 a.m.

RCMP say Highway 97 by Kaleden will be closed for "an extended period of time."

A southbound pickup truck and a northbound transport truck with diesel fuel collided, resulting in diesel fuel being spilled onto the roadway.

The highway is closed in both directions while police investigate and cleanup is underway.

Highway 97 near Kaleden remains closed in both directions.

Highway 97 between Okanagan Falls and Penticton near Kaleden is closed due to a vehicle incident.

DriveBC reports a vehicle incident that has shut a 0.9 kilometre stretch between Lakehill Road and Okanagan Game Farm Road. Traffic is stopped in both directions.

Emergency vehicles are in scene and an assessment is in progress.
