Penticton's Channel Parkway cleared after police investigation into multi-vehicle crash closed lanes

UPDATE: 9 p.m.

Highway 97 through Penticton has been cleared after an earlier crash, according to DriveBC.

Two vehicles, a truck and an SUV, crashed on Penticton Channel Parkway near Warren Avenue on Tuesday afternoon.

Due to a resulting police investigation, both northbound lanes and one southbound lane had been closed since about 3 p.m.


UPDATE: 3 p.m.

RCMP are calling a crash that has stopped traffic on Highway 97 through Penticton Tuesday "serious."

They say police are on scene with the assistance of BC Highway Patrol investigating the incident.

Both northbound lanes and one southbound lane will be closed "for an extended period" while police investigate.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has any other pertinent information is asked to call the RCMP at 250-491-4300.

A vehicle crash has taken place on the Penticton Channel Parkway at Warren Avenue Tuesday afternoon.

Two vehicles, a truck and an SUV, ended up on the median between the south and northbound lanes of the highway shortly after 2 p.m.

Emergency crews are on scene. Traffic is obstructed.
