Rising and dropping case number scattered throughout the South Okanagan

Mixed bag of case numbers

While most numbers of new COVID-19 cases in the South Okanagan continue to fall, weekly case numbers have risen slightly in a couple of areas.

According to the BC Centre for Disease Control, Penticton saw 18 new cases from Nov. 14 to 20, three higher from 15 cases the week prior.

The Southern Okanagan region, which encompasses Oliver and Osoyoos, saw a downturn from four to three.

Summerland saw double the cases, growing from seven up to 14 cases, and Keremeos remained steady with two new cases, the same as the previous week.

In Princeton, the new cases dropped to just one, a decline compared to the area having three cases a week prior.

COVID-19 vaccination rates are seeing a small growth forward. As of Nov. 23, the communities had the following vaccination rates in people 12 and older who have received at least one dose:

Penticton: 88 per cent
Summerland: 88 per cent
Southern Okanagan: 91 per cent
Keremeos: 83 per cent
Princeton: 83 per cent
