Suspicious death on reserve

A 21-year-old man is dead under what RCMP call "suspicious" circumstances near Penticton.

On Oct. 13 shortly before 5 p.m., RCMP responded to a report of a body lying on the side of Green Mountain Road, five kilometres west of Penticton on the Penticton Indian Band Land Reserve.

Officers determined the death was suspicious.

The victim has been identified as Clayton Robert Dyer, 21.

"We are releasing a photo and Mr. Dyer’s identity in the hopes it will advance our investigation,” said S/Sgt. Janelle Shoihet.

"We are asking anyone who might have had contact with Dyer or have any information regarding his whereabouts since Saturday, Oct. 9 to contact us.”

The Southeast District Major Crime Unit has taken conduct of the police investigation and is working with the Penticton Indian Band and the BC Coroners Service, who is conducting its own investigation into the circumstances of the man’s death.
