Four deaths now associated with COVID-19 outbreaks at Penticton care homes

Deaths rise at care home

Three residents of Penticton's Village by the Station care home have died as a result of an ongoing COVID-19 outbreak at the facility.

Two of those deaths took place over the long weekend, according to an update from Interior Health issued Tuesday.

Eighteen residents and 14 staff had contracted the illness as of that update.

Haven Hill Retirement Centre in Penticton is also dealing with an outbreak, and has one death associated with it.

They have seven residents and one staff member who have contracted the virus.

As of Tuesday, care home staff are all provincially mandated to get the COVID-19 vaccine. Just under 2,000 workers at B.C. care homes and assisted living facilities are now on unpaid leave as a result of that mandate.
