Oliver Town Council will be discussing final approval for borrowing $400,000 to bring in a new pumper truck for the fire department on Tuesday evening.
The fire department saw a busy wildfire season this past summer, assisting in protecting the area from the Nk’Mip Creek wildfire that sparked in July.
If approved, the regional district would borrow the funds from the Municipal Finance Authority for the town on a 20-year repayment term.
Council will also decide whether to award a contract to HUB Fire Engines and Equipment Ltd for the truck at a cost of $655,931 plus taxes, the lowest bid they received.
The Oliver Fire Department will be contributing approximately $328,000 toward the truck.
