PACE celebrates 20 years of People, Planet, Purpose in Penticton

Recycle for a giftcard

Drop off your old laptops and computer towers throughout October and be entered into a draw for a $50 gift certificate.

The Penticton & Area Co-Operative Enterprises (PACE) is celebrating 20 years of creating work opportunities for people in the community that face barriers to employment.

PACE is a business that focuses on creating employment opportunities for people with barriers, while helping to keep recyclable material out of the landfills.

Before PACE there was “Rainbow Waves”, a drop-in program for persons with disabilities open from the mid ’90s until 2013, with job coaches and mental health support classes for people experiencing significant barriers to employment.

The workers cooperative was named PACE in 2001. More service contracts were secured with the Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen for recycling programs at the regional landfills, along with collecting electronic waste and mattress recycling.

Help PACE celebrate 20 years of positive social impact by dropping off any unused electronics, computer equipment or small appliances Monday to Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The electronic waste recycling depot and refurbished computer sales centre is celebrating this anniversary with their prize draw.

PACE is also adding a new monthly service for local businesses, with a FREE e-waste pickup for small businesses in Penticton, this month on Wed Oct 27. Email [email protected] to book a pick-up.
