Cyclist, truck collision near Oliver resulted in airlift to hospital

Cyclist airlifted after crash

A cyclist was injured in a collision with a truck on Highway 97 north of Oliver Tuesday, resulting in the man being airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital.

The crash took place in the early afternoon near Enterprise Way.

Allegedly, the cyclist cut across southbound lanes into the path of the pickup truck driver, according to police.

The cyclist required surgery, according to the man's wife, who spoke to Oliver RCMP Sgt. Don Wrigglesworth Wednesday.

Wrigglesworth said the man's wife was "very thankful" that he had worn a helmet.
