Explore what Penticton has to offer in a new way

Explore local with a twist

"Stay Local, Support Local" is a collaboration between Castanet and Travel Penticton showcasing what Penticton has to offer all year round. Watch for it every Monday morning.

Offering countless unique experiences, Penticton has some less conventional opportunities to explore and adventure some old classics in a new way this summer!

It’s almost certain that you have at some point been on a wine tour if you live or vacation in the South Okanagan, but have you ever been on a kayak wine tour? Hoodoo Adventures offers that opportunity with their Kayak Pinot, Paddle & Paint Tour.

Enjoy the day exploring different wineries and doing tastings via kayak, and create your own masterpiece during a private painting lesson put on at the grounds of an Okanagan Winery with a talented local artist.

Enjoy a light seasonal picnic along the way as you paddle to and from different wineries. This is a memorable opportunity to enjoy with friends and family and best of all you have your very own painting that will remind you of a day well spent.

There is a saying that there is no better beer than a beer you’ve worked hard for, so why not test out that theory by embarking on a brewery bike tour. Hoodoo Adventures also offers a unique Spirited Brews Cruise Cycle Distillery Brewery Tour.

Ride your bike through the stunning and iconic Naramata Bench, enjoy a light picnic, and then sip on some delicious, local craft beers.

Learn from talented and experienced guides about the region, the Kettle Valley Railway, and then about what makes our local craft beer and spirits special and different.

For another unique winery tour opportunity, Tightrope Winery offers a Portfolio Wine Tasting where you enjoy a curated tasting of 5 of their organic and eco-friendly wines.

To enhance the experience, you can also enjoy a more in-depth tour experience throughout their Barrel Room experience. You will get an intimate tour of their cellar and vineyard from one of their incredibly knowledgeable sommeliers.

Enjoy six wines from their award winning line up throughout a 60 minute tour and tasting. You will leave with a better understanding of not only Tightrope Winery, but sustainable winemaking, organic wine and viticulture practices and Okanagan wines in general.

You also will get to take home your very own Tightrope wine glass to help you remember the experience!

Sagebrush Tours also offers an amazing way to discover the Okanagan in an unconventional way. Discover some of Canada’s most unique ecosystems and see some incredibly rare birds and animals.

Alongside a safe and knowledgeable guide, they offer unique tours like bat tours in Peachland and birding tours at Vaseux lake, just south of Okanagan Falls. More challenging tours include taking in the rare and incredibly unique landscape during an Osoyoos Desert tour or taking in the stunning views during a climb up Okanagan Mountain in Kelowna.

You can even explore the lake in style with Sea Legs Water Bikes. Everyone has been boating, so take it to the next level by checking out the shoreline on an easy-to-ride water bike. Located near the Marina at Skaha Lake, call or book online for a fun adventure. They’re fun to ride, easy to maneuver, and the best part is that you will never have to pedal uphill!

With so many diverse opportunities for fun and adventure, make sure to not get stuck in a rut and explore some new and exciting ways to enjoy and appreciate the beautiful South Okanagan.
