Get ready to meet your new furry best friend with local animal rescues hosting back-to-back adoptions events in the South Okanagan.

The Critteraid Animal Sanctuary in Summerland has a large group of shy, sweet cats ready to meet their perfect match, and what better way to host an evening than in a black tie, or in this case, black tails.

"We're asking everybody to wear their best duds and come out and join us for an amazing adoption event," Jess Byer, Critteraid Animal Director said.

The event runs in the evening of July 23 and will be set up by appointment only.

"And it's more of a blind date setup. So come on out and we'll see who we can match you with."

Then on July 24, Paws & Claws in Oliver and Critteraid will be a part of a fundraiser at Lucky's Pet Supply in Penticton.

Christmas in July kicks off at the store starting at 10 a.m., with plenty of games and prizes. Animals can grab pictures with Santa starting at noon or take part in the pupcake eating contest.

Kittens will also be up for adoption,

An online silent auction in alongside the event is running from July 17 to the 24, with all proceeds going towards the animal rescues.

If you want any more information on either of these events, email [email protected] or contact Lucky Pets.
