Items belonging to hiker missing in Manning Park found

Missing man's gear found

The search for a Vancouver hiker missing since October in Manning Park has resumed after items that are believed to be his belongings were found.

Jordan Naterer, 25, left his Vancouver home in Oct. 10 for a hike in Manning Park. He was reported missing after he failed to show up at a family gathering as planned and his vehicle was found at the Frosty Mountain Trailhead, close to the Lightning Lake Day Use area.

An extensive search between Oct. 13 and Nov. 7, 2020 came up empty.

But his parents didn't give up, and flew out to B.C. from Newfoundland to do what they could to find their son. A GoFundMe was started to help sustain the search after public authorities suspended their efforts when the winter weather arrived. It has raised just short of $150,000 so far.

RCMP said items believed to have belonged to Naterer were found Sunday in a remote, limited access area.

An RCMP helicopter, along with Princeton Search and Rescue, have all been deployed to the area to continue the search.

At this time, Naterer remains missing, and anyone with information related to his whereabouts is asked to contact the Princeton RCMP at 250-295-6911.
