Penticton high schoolers paint orange rocks, leave them around community to honour those lost in residential schools

Orange rocks for the kids

Grade 10 English classes at Princess Margaret Secondary is leaving painted orange rocks with messages of hope around the community.

The project is aimed at honouring and remembering all the children lost in Canada's residential school system, in particular the remains of 215 children found in an unmarked grave recently in Kamloops.

Four classes painted 215 rocks, then designed messages and symbols on each one, encouraging reconciliation.

The students then placed the rocks around town at businesses and in visible areas, hoping to inspire conversation.
