Penticton lake-to-lake bike route moving through construction ahead of schedule

Bike lane ahead of schedule

Penticton’s lake-to-lake bike route construction is off to a speedy start, with the city stating they are running ahead of schedule.

Work began on the bike route on May 14.

The 400-600 blocks will have work beginning earlier than planned, with the majority of work being undertaken at the intersections.

“Crews will continue to ensure disruptions are minimised over the coming weeks,” a press release reads. “The city thanks everyone for their continued patience as this project moves ahead.”

The city also announced they have purchased 30 new bike racks for installation along the route, which will be between the library and Lakeshore Drive. Property owners and businesses will be contacted to identify the best places to install the racks in the area.

The full bike route when completed will follow Martin Street to Fairview Road, Atkinson Street and Skaha Lake Road to connect both Okanagan and Skaha lakes.
